Western Atlantic—USA (Florida), Antilles, north of South America, and Brazil (Fernando de Noronha, Maranhão, Piauí, Ceará, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Sergipe, Bahia, São Paulo), Central Atlantic— Ascension Island ( Coelho & Ramos 1972; Powers 1977; Abele & Kim 1986; Manning & Chace 1990; Almeida et al. 2007b; Felder et al. 2009; Alves et al. 2012a, b; Mendonça et al. 2019).
