Distribution. Western Atlantic—Gulf of Mexico, Central America, Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobago, and Brazil (Pará, Maranhão, Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Alagoas, Bahia, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Paraná) ( Rathbun 1918; Abele 1992; Melo 1996; Barros & Pimentel 2001; Almeida et al. 2006; Sousa et al. 2015; Marochi et al. 2017).

Remarks. Previous records on the coast of São Paulo state include Ubatuba ( Negreiros-Fransozo et al. 2002) and São Sebastião ( Cuesta & Anger 2001). Sequences accession number (GenBank): CCDB 3190—16S ( MF490169 View Materials ), COI ( MF490071 View Materials ) ( Mantelatto et al. 2018a).
