Distribution. Western Atlantic—Bermuda, USA (Florida, Gulf of Mexico), Antilles, north of South America, and Brazil (Fernando de Noronha, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul). Eastern Atlantic—Senegal to Angola and Cape Verde. Eastern Pacific—Galapagos Archipelago, Peru, Chile ( Rathbun 1918; Garth 1957; Hartnoll 1965; Forest & Guinot 1966; Chace & Hobbs 1969; Coelho & Ramos 1972; Fausto-Filho 1974; Powers 1977; Rodríguez 1980; Lemaitre 1981; Keith 1985; Abele & Kim 1986; Melo et al. 1989; Melo 1996, 2008; Boos et al. 2012; Herrera 2012).
Remarks. Previous records to São Paulo state include Iguape ( Rathbun 1918) and estuary of Cananéia ( Tiseo et al. 2017). Despite the occurrence in the Eastern Pacific ( Melo 1996), morphological differences between zoea I of G. lividus from the Pacific coast of Panama and from the Gulf of Mexico ( Guerao et al. 2001) indicate that they might belong to two different species. Sequences accession number (GenBank): CCDB 1518—16S ( KU313179 View Materials ), COI ( KU313194 View Materials ) ( Mantelatto et al. 2018a).
