Xenosellidae View in CoL fam. nov.

Diagnosis. Asellota Janiroidea with pereonites 5–7 (and 1–4 in male) lateral parts tubular, with large intersegmental gaps. Pleon with one free segment; pleotelson with elongate proximal ‘neck’. Head wider than long. Antennula longer than antenna, inserted jointly on low anterolateral projection. At least coxae 5–7 visible in dorsal view. Mandible molar modified, non–triturative. Maxilliped palp slender, articles of subequal width. Pereopod 1 propodosubchelate, 2–7 slender, subequal. Uropods biramous, protopod short. Anus covered by pleopods. Male pleopods 1 and 2 displaced posteriorly, penes elongate. Female operculum similarly displaced. Testes each composed of three lobes. Female spermathecal duct opening on anteroventral margin of pereonite 5 separate from ventral oopore.
