TYPE LOCALITY: Zaire, Bas Congo Dist., Summit of Loadi Hill, 5 km S.W. of Matadi .

DISTRIBUTION: Known only from the vicinity of the type locality.

COMMENT: Hatt, 1936, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 72: 132, and Bothma, 1971, Part 12:1-8, stated that this species may be conspecific with brucei , and it was so placed by Roche, 1972, Mammalia, 36:41.
