General distribution. Europe: Albania, Austria, Bosnia Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Finland, France (incl. Corsica), FYR Macedonia, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Italy (incl. Sardinia and Sicily), Latvia, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal (incl. Azores and Madeira), Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain (incl. Balearic Is. and Canary Is.). West Asia: Caucasus, Iran, Palestine, Turkestan, Turkey. North Africa: Algeria, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia ( Zapparoli 2002; Minelli et al. 2006).
Chorotype. W-Palearctic (WPA).
Records in Peloponnisos ( Fig. 15 View FIGURE 15 ). Argolida: Nafplio (1, 2, 4). Lakonia: Taigetos: Profitis Ilias, 1650–2300 m (3, 4).
Ecological notes. 0–2300 m; an euriecious species, in Platanus orientalis riparian woods, in Quercus sp., Castanea sativa and Populus sp. thermomesophilous woods, in montane open habitats, in Quercus coccifera and Juniperus sp. scrubs, in Paliurus spinachristi scrubs, in sandy soils, along seashore, under stranded remains of Posidonia sp., in saltworks, and in agroecosystems ( Attems 1929a; Kanellis 1959; Matic 1980; Chamberlin 1956; Zapparoli 1994, 1996).
