Anacroneuria ofaye View in CoL sp. n. ( Figs. 4–9 View FIGURES 4 – 7 View FIGURES 8 – 9 )

Type Material. Holotype, m#: BRAZIL: Mato Grosso do Sul, Costa Rica, Fazenda Santo Antônio, 21–27/X/ 1984, S.A. Vanin. Paratypes: Same data as holotype, 1 m #, 3 f#.

Description. General colour light yellowish-brown. Lappets and area between ocelli pale to light brown, rest of head lighter ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 4 – 7 ). Antennae brown, palpi light brown. Pronotum ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 4 – 7 ) light brown with light yellowish median stripe and marginal spots. Legs yellowish to pale brown. Wing membrane and veins light brown, C, Sc and basal R paler. Cerci yellowish.

Male. Forewing length, 9.5–10.0mm. Hammer a truncate cone 0.09mm long ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 4 – 7 ). Penial armature ( Figs. 6–7 View FIGURES 4 – 7 ) narrowing gradually from base to apex, hooks regularly curved with pointed tips, pair of large ventral vesicles present. Dorsal keel elevated in side view, anterior limit similar to a square bracket in dorsal view.

Female. Forewing length, 12.6–13.7mm. Subgenital plate 4-lobed ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 8 – 9 ), median lobes separated by a wide notch; lobes of about same height. Posterior margin of sternum 9 almost straight, lightly sclerotized; field of hairs a T with long arms.

Egg. Oval, 0.22x 0.33mm ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 8 – 9 ).

Etymology. The epithet refers to the Ofaye (or Ofaié) Indians, that lived in the State and of whom a few remnant individuals live in a reservation.

Remarks. The penial armature is similar to that of A. flintorum Froehlich 2002 , but the dorsal keel is more elevated and, in dorsal view, resembles a square bracket. In the female, the median notch is angled and the apices of the median lobes are nearer to the lateral ones than to each other, while in A. flintorum the notch is rounded and the lobes are at about the same distances among them ( Bispo & Froehlich, 2004). Additionally, A. flintorum is somewhat darker, the head lacks the light band at the M-line level and the pronotum lacks the lighter mid-stripe.
