Description. Imago ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 1 – 6 ). Wing expanse 7.5−8.5 mm. Head white mixed with pale brown. Antenna white on scape; flagellum black, somewhat dentate. Labial palpus white with black spots. Thorax and tegula dark brown mixed with white. Forewing ground colour golden yellow, brown margined with white streak at base; two wide dark brown bands from costal 1/3 and 2/3 reaching middle and near tornus on ventral margin, the former edged with white along outside, the later with scattered white dots along outside; costal margin with basal half black; apex dark brown; cilia yellow mixed with brown in basal half along apex, grey mixed with brown along termen and on tornus. Hindwing and cilia grey. Fore- and midlegs black, with white rings on tibiae and tarsi; hindleg grey, tarsus black with white rings.
Male genitalia ( Fig. 16 View FIGURES 11 – 16 ). Uncus broad squared, concave in wide V shape on posterior margin, forming a pair of posterolateral processes. Gnathos short and broad, wider than long, slightly shorter than uncus, broad at base, slightly narrowed to anterior margin, with a pair of small anterolateral processes extending outward; lateral arms short and strong. Valva narrow, basal 2/3 with costa and ventral margins parallel; costa with a slender spiniform lobe arising from near base. Sacculus wide, sclerotized, slightly narrowed beyond middle, distally produced to a spine pointing upward. Saccus broad triangular, longer than uncus. Juxta simple, clubshaped, concave at middle on posterior margin, rounded on anterior margin; lateral lobe slender, consisting of fine spines. Phallus slender, longer than valva; cornutus absent.
Female genitalia ( Fig. 24 View FIGURES 21 – 26 ). Apophysis anterioris thicker than apophysis posterioris. Lamella postvaginalis entirely sclerotized, crinkly. Antrum indistinct. Ductus bursae slender, membranous. Corpus bursae small oval, membranous; signa a pair of large rectangular plates with numerous small triangular teeth.
Diagnosis. This species can be distinguished from other congeners by the costa having a slender spiniform lobe arising from near base, both uncus and gnathos with apical processes in the male genitalia; and the signa being a pair of large elongate rectangular plates with small triangular teeth in the female genitalia.
Etymology. the specific name is derived from the Latin word lobatus (lobe) and the suffix -fera (oval), referring to the special costal process.
Hong Kong distribution and status. Widespread, recorded from Hong Kong Island (Red Hill), the central N.T. (KARC, KFBG, Lam Tsuen Valley, Sha Lo Tung), Sai Kung peninsula (Tai Mong Tsai, Ho Chung) and the north-east N.T. (Nam Chung Valley); 13 records from secondary forest, all close to permanent streams, two records from feng shui woodland and one record from coastal shrubland; altitudinal range: 45 to 340 m elevation; flight period: possibly tri-voltine, March −April, June and August–September.
