New species and new records of scaphopods from New Caledonia Author Scarabino, Victor John T. Koumac. EXPÉDITION MONTROUZIER: stn 1286, Plateau Karembé , 20°38’- 20°39’S , 164°16’- 164°17’E , intertidal, 1 lv . REMARKS. — The material consists of a single specimen (L 22.6, W 3, w 1.6, arc 3) with 8 ribs that cannot be assigned to any species recorded from the area. I prefer to wait for additional material to describe it. The specimen resembles a large shell of Dentalium variabile , but with rather smooth intercostal spaces. It is also close to Dentalium lessoni Deshayes, 1825 ( lectotype and paralectotypes , all heavily eroded, at MNHN) but the latter species possesses 9 primary ribs.
