Distribution in the New Caledonian region : east and southwest coasts; Norfolk Ridge; live in 330-760 m , shells to 790 m . REMARKS. — A large number of specimens available for study from throughout its geographic distribution confirm the extreme variability of this species, especially in the morphology of the apical region as well as in the transverse section, possibly linked to growth but also to environmental conditions. In my opinion, E. jamiesoni falls within the range of variation of G. insolita and I consider it to be a junior synonym of the latter.
