Shannon & Del Ponte (1926) described Phyronota portensis from four females and seven males ( syntypes ) from Buenos Aires province, Argentina . We located one male in ANLIS and three males in USNM. One male syntype is hereby designated lectotype of Phyronota portensis Shannon & Del Ponte, 1926 . Lectotype male (ANLIS): in good condition, pinned, labels: “E. Psilochaeta chalybea was redescribed by Carvalho (1989) , and presents a significant morphological similarity with Psilochaeta violescens (Dodge) , endemic to Chile . This similarity is observed in their metallic coloration and terminalia morphology. Biology . This species is associated with human envirounment ( Figueroa-Roa & Linhares 2004 ). The specimens captured by authors were collected on decaying beef liver, chicken viscera, and dog faeces.
