Note: Linnaeus gave the alternative name Liparia umbellata (seemingly not published elsewhere) in the protologue, and this was repeated in Syst. Veg. , ed. 13: 554 (1774). Neither this name nor L. umbellata is invalid, having been published pre-1953 (Art. 34.2). Schutte & Van Wyk (in Taxon 579. 1994) and Schutte (in Nordic J. Bot. 17: 29. 1997) treat this as an illegitimate name, synonymous with Liparia laevigata (L.) Thunb.
