Berberentulinae
is extraordinarily diverse in genera (29 genera in the world according to
Szeptycki, 2007
) and species. Within this subfamily
Baculentulus
Tuxen, 1977
is the only genus known from the northeastern Palearctic. This genus contains 38 known species (
Shrubovych 2010a
), mainly distributed in Africa, South
America
,
Australia
,
New Zealand
,
Thailand
, Southern
China
and
Japan
(
Fig. 2
). None occurs in Siberia, but four species,
Baculentulus potapovi
,
B. pomorskii
,
B. borealis
and
B. loxoglenus
, have been recorded from the southeastern Russian Far East (
Nakamura 2004
;
Shrubovych 2010a
).
