Scaphytopiini Oman, 1943: 16 View in CoL . Type genus: Scaphytopius Ball, 1931

Diagnosis. Scaphytopiini is distinguished from other tribes of Deltocephalinae mainly by the dorsally visible genae (except Proceps Mulsant & Rey , also included in the tribe by Dmitriev (2002) based on nymphal characters). In addition, the following characters feature in the tribe but are not universal or unique: face elongate; aedeagus disassociated from connective with paired (sometimes fused) pseudostyles and paired gonopores; forewings with recurved veins in costal area.
