Trochilodectes Park & Atyeo, 1971

Type-species: Proctophyllodes (Pterodectes) trochilidarum Trouessart, 1885

Mites of this genus occur only on hummingbirds ( Apodiformes , Trochilidae ). Setae ps 3 in males are inserted anterior to adanal suckers, and setae h2 are lanceolate and without terminal filament. The genus Trochilodectes comprises currently of ten species (Park & Atyeo 1974b; Černý 1974).
