Lanehelea View in CoL :

- Female sternite 8 strongly modified, with well-developed lateral lobes and setae restricted to transverse row on a transverse ridge on the short basal portion of the sternite. The basal portion bends abruptly dorsally to extend to the common oviduct. This feature is nearly unique in Ceratopogonidae but quite similar to some species of Palpomyia in the distincta group ( Grogan & Wirth 1979a). Although the genus is described as such by Wirth & Blanton (1972), their illustration of L. spinifemur appears to lack this modification.
