Myrmozercon rotundiscutum Rosario & Hunter

This species was well-described by Rosario & Hunter (1988). Additional notes from the holotype are provided here.

Dorsal shield with prominent muscle insertions. Dorsodistal edge of palp femur with a small swelling internal to condyle. Tritosternum with squat base 17 long to level of suture, laciniae forked 9 μm above this. Laciniae bare, tapering, free portion 116 long. Genito-ventral shield 181 long and 278 wide at st5. Deutosternal groove with 10 rows of denticles, 16–26 denticles per row. Peritremes extend to level of anterior edge of coxa III. Anal valves narrow. Field of cribral spicules a dense narrow beard without discernible rows, which project within shield as lateral arms to level of insertion of para-anal setae. Femur I with usual 13 setae on left hand side, but has 5 ventral setae on its right hand side making 14 setae. Femur II with ten setae, 2, 2/1, 2/2, 1. Femur III has only 5 setae. Both genu III and IV have 11 setae as 2, 2/1,3/1, 2. Tibia II has 2, 3/1,2/1, 2. Chaetotaxy of other segments as commonly found in Laelapidae ( Evans & Till 1965) . Pretarsal opercula bear 3 strong tines.
