Deutonymphs of G. hypudaei have been collected from the hair and fur of rodents throughout the Nearctic region (Fain & Whitaker 1973, Whitaker & Wilson 1974). The records from Sorex are unusual and might represent contaminants if rodent traps were not washed prior to resetting.
