This species was collected from the branchial arches of Pagellus erythrinus and Sarpa salpa .
In the Mediterranean this species was reported from several host species (summarized by Raibaut et al. 1998): Pagrus vulgaris ( P. pagrus ) and P. erythrinus ( Richiardi 1880) , P. erythrinus and P. vulgaris in the Genoa Gulf and the Ligurian Sea ( Brian 1898), Sparus pagrus ( P. pagrus ), S. salpa , P.erythrinus in Tunisia ( Ben Hassine et al. 1978) and Lithognathus mormyrus ( Benmansour & Ben Hassine 1997) .
