Centrodraco ornatus (Fourmanoir & Rivaton 1979) —Ornate slope dragonet

Status at New Ireland. New record from Papua New Guinea, based on NTUM 12172 (1 male, 52.5 mm SL, St. CP 4254-51, northwest of Kavieng, Kavieng District , 2°29.00’S 150°40.40’E– 2°28.43’S 150°41.63’E, 273–324 m depth, R/ V Alis, 24 Apr. 2014).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Kyushu-Palau Ridge; New Caledonia. Soft bottom, 300–530 m depth. Marine.

Remarks. This new record is located intermediate between the previously known ranges at Kyushu-Palau Ridge and New Caledonia. The species is probably more widespread along the rim of the western Pacific.
