Valoniopsis hancockii E.Y. Dawson (1944: 207) .

TAXONOMIC STATUS: According to Guiry & Guiry (2014) V. hancockii is currently taxonomically valid. Norris (2010) regarded this species as endemic from the North Gulf of California.
