19. Urozona buetschlii Schewiakoff, 1889 View in CoL ( Fig. 19 View Fig )

Material examined. Freshwater collected from Gyeongpocheon River , Unjeong-dong , Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do, Korea (37°47 ʹ 20 ʺ N, 128°54 ʹ 34 ʺ E) on April 12, 2018 GoogleMaps .

Diagnosis. Body size 12-15 × 9-12 μm after protargol impregnation; dumb-bell shape in vivo; single oval macronucleus; merged peniculi 2 + 3; undulating membrane present but inconspicuous; equatorially arranged girdle-like 23-25 somatic kineties; obliquely extended somatic kineties on right of oral field; longitudinally arranged somatic kineties on dorsal side; shortest somatic kineties on left of oral field.

Distribution. Austria, France, Germany, Hungary, Italia, Korea.

Remarks. The extended first somatic kinety on the right side was easily mistaken to be undulating membrane ( Foissner et al., 1994; Olmo et al., 1998). Urozona is a monotypic genus and recognized by a dumb-bell shaped body and equatorially restricted somatic kineties ( Foissner et al., 1994).

Voucher slide. One slide of protargol-impregnated specimens was deposited at National Institute of Biological Resources, Korea (NIBRPR0000109423).
