Remarks.

Scabies mandarinus was described by Morelet in 1864, based on specimens collected from “Cochinchina”. This name was previously placed as a junior synonym under Scabies scobinatus (Lea, 1856) and Scabies crispata (Gould, 1843) (e.g., Haas 1969; Brandt 1974). Based on molecular phylogeny data, Pfeiffer et al. (2018) revealed a distinct clade of Parreysiinae from Mekong delta and eastern gulf of Thailand and resurrected the name Scabies mandarinus for this clade. Jeratthitikul et al. (2019a) later included Scabies populations from the Tonle Sap basin into this species, based on molecular data and shell morphology.
