Tryblionella nicobarica (Grunow) D.G.Mann (in Round et al. 1990: 678) ( Fig. 100 View FIGURES 91–102 )
References: Lange-Bertalot & Krammer 1987, p. 16, pl. 16, fig. 7; Witkowski et al. 2000, p. 395, pl. 189, fig. 12 as Nitzschia nicobarica Grunow (1880 : fig. 4).
Features: Length 85–110 μm, width 27–48 μm, fibulae unevenly spaced, 3–4 in 10 μm, striae 22–25 in 10 μm.
Description: valves linear elliptic with weakly constricted sides and rounded apices. Raphe eccentric, fibulae large, unevenly spaced, the median two are larger and ovoid in shape. Transapical striae interrupted by longitudinal folds, mostly two.
Remarks: This species might exceed 200 μm in length but the observed specimens appeared smaller.
Ecology and Distribution: A common warm water species. Not reported previously from the Gulf. Rare in Basra corals.
