Trinathotrema stictideum (Nyl.) Lücking, Miranda-Gonzáles & Kalb View in CoL in Lücking et al. (2011: 200). ( Fig. 3F View FIGURE 3 )

This is one of three enigmatic species so far described in this genus. It shares a corticate, green or olive to yellowbrown thallus with Trinathotrema hierrense Ertz & van den Boom and Trinathotrema lumbricoides (Sipman) Sipman & Aptroot , but can readily be separated from both by the size of the ascospores.

Distribution and habitat:— T. stictideum is widely distributed in subtropical and tropical regions and has been found in all continents, including North, Central and South America, Africa, India, the Philippines, Australia and Tasmania where it grows on the bark of various trees in ± dry forests ( Lücking et al. 2011).

Material from Thailand examined:— Chiang Rai province: Mae Chan district ; tambon Pa Tueng, on bark of an unidentified tree at the edge of an evergreen forest, 480 m. 20°06‘30‘‘ N, 99°46‘19‘‘ E, 6 December 2016, J. & K. Kalb 41729 (Hb. K. & J. Kalb).— Phetchaburi province: Kaeng Krachan National Park, on bark of Sterculia sp. , 200 m. 7 December 1998, K. Vongshewarat s.n. ( RAMK) GoogleMaps .

Remarks:— T. lumbricoides (Sipman) Sipman & Aptroot is widely distributed in the eastern Palaeotropics, including Thailand, Papua New Guinea, Vietnam and Japan, but has not been found in the Americas and Africa ( Lücking et al. 2011), and T. hierrae is so far only known from Hierra, Canary Islands. T. stictideum is a new addition to the Thai lichen biota.
