Ten deutonymphs attached to different body areas of one adult of R. ferrugineus ( Figure 5a,b View Figure 5 ).
Description
Deutonymph. Idiosoma oval, 779–823 long × 558–596 wide µm, with anterior end slightly acute bearing a pair of small and smooth setae. Surface of dorsal shield and body margin smooth, covered by numerous smooth setae, needle-like, 72–83 µm long, and small circular depressions. Marginal plate with small scallops at margin, bearing 14 pairs of longer setae alternating with other shorter setae. Sternal plate smooth with small circular depressions, bearing short setae, laterally lobed. Ventrianal region with numerous small circular depressions, having pygidial plate elliptic bearing two pairs of setae. Prestigmatid part of peritremes long and U-shaped, inner margins scarcely undulate; poststigmatid part absent. Stigmata lateral, located slightly anterior to the coxa III. Legs covered by short setae, with coxa well developed at leg I, reduced and fused with trocanter at legs II–IV, all femora swollen having a membranous chitin trotter, patella and tibia as long as wide, tarsus conoid and caruncle with swollen distal part bearing two claws except at leg I where caruncle is reduced lacking claws and appearing an elongated accessory seta. Gnathosoma reduced, with palps having smooth setae, except those at distal part with half-moon-like bifurcated tip. Epistoma plumose. Tritostemium with narrow base, bearing laciniae divided into three branches.
