Recognition. This species is readily distinguished from other Japanese species of Trichoclinocera View in CoL by the setose scutellum, flat face, reddish-brown coloured legs and hind femur with single prominent, preapical anteroventral bristle.
Description. See Sinclair & Saigusa (2005).
Distribution. This species is restricted to the Japanese island of Honshu ( Sinclair & Saigusa 2005, fig. 7), with flight records from mid-June to mid-September.
Remarks. This species is usually found in shallow streamlets in forests.
