Abbreviated Description. Indumentum pubescent to pilose of simple basifixed hairs, leaflets (5–)7–9(–11), alternate to opposite, 4 × 1.3–7.5 × 2.5(–3) cm, narrowly elliptic to lanceolate, base nearly always asymmetric, inflorescence 4–12 cm long, a slender, laxly-branched, few-flowered, narrowly pyramidal thyrse, petals 4–5(–6), 1.5–2 mm long, fused for one third to half their length, valvate, filaments completely fused in a staminal tube, margin with triangularsubulate lobes alternating with the anthers, anthers 4–6, ovary sparsely appressed puberulous, 2-locular, locules with 2 collateral ovules, capsule 1.3–1.7 cm long, 2-valved, ovoid to ellipsoid, smooth, sericeous, seed 1(–2), completely surrounded by a thick fleshy arillode.

Distribution & Ecology. Southern Petén Peninsula, in Guatemala, Belize and adjacent Honduras, in lowland semi-evergreen rain forest with a 3–4 month dry season, often over limestone, and with characteristic species such as Manilkara zapota , Brosimum alicastrum , and Haematoxylum campechianum .
