Transvenosus nigrodorsalis View in CoL sp. n. ( Figs 1–8 View FIGURES 1 – 8 )
Description. Body length (including forewing): ♂, 6.3–6.7 mm. Coloration ( Figs 1–3 View FIGURES 1 – 8 ) predominantly dark brown with brown or off-white markings, markings symmetrical but somewhat variable among specimens in size and tint. Face blackish ochreous, frontoclypeus with an off-white longitudinal band on median area and an irregular off-white spot on each anterior lateral area. Crown mostly dark brown, with three small irregular spots basally and a transverse off-white stripe subapically. Pronotum brown with large black longitudinal band, about half width of pronotum. Mesonotum and scutellum lateral margin off-white, two basal corners and median area blackish ochreous. Forewing with white to pale yellow semi-opaque markings, veins white.
Male pygofer ( Figs 4, 5 View FIGURES 1 – 8 ) with lateral lobe pointed outwardly, with numerous small setae. Aedeagus ( Figs 7, 8 View FIGURES 1 – 8 ) ventral process in lateral view approximately triangular, apex notched in dorsal and ventral view. Other characteristics as shown in Figs 1–8 View FIGURES 1 – 8 .
Type material. THAILAND: Holotype ♂ ( QSBG), Kamphaeng Phet Mae Wong NP Chong Yen, 16º5.968'N 99º6.472'E 1306m, malaise trap, 1–8.x.2007, Chumpol Piluek & Aram Inpuang, T2816. Paratypes: 9♂♂ ( INHS, NWAFU, QSBG), same data as holotype; 4♂♂ ( NWAFU, QSBG), same data as holotype except collected on 16º5.212'N 99º6.576'E, 8–15.x.2007, T3686.
One studied female specimen ( Figs 18–24 View FIGURES 18 – 24 ) appears to belong to T. nigrodorsalis sp. n., but differs somewhat from the males included in the type series and, since it is from a different locality, we exclude it from the type series: 1♀ Thailand Nakhon Si Thammar at Namtok Yong NP TV aerial, 8º14.262'N 99º48.289'E 966m, malaise trap, 14– 21.vii.2008, Paiboon, T3106.
Remarks. This species is very similar to T. signuma ( Li & Webb, 1996) , n. comb. They can be distinguished by the coloration and the shape of the aedeagus ventral process.
Etymology. The specific epithet “ nigrodorsalis ” refers to the large black longitudinal band on the pronotum of the insects.
