“ F2333 new genus Colombia ” Vandergast et al., 2017: 12.
Diagnosis. Male cercus robust, cylindrical at anterior half, conical at posterior half; anterior and posterior halves with same length ( Figs. 5 View FIGURE 5 D–F). Male subgenital plate almost 2x longer than wide, rugose, posterior margin Ushaped emarginated, with long setae ventrally ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 D–F). Stylus conspicuously inward curved, robust, conspicuously shorter than subgenital plate ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 D–F). Male genitalia titillator’s process with posterior margin light brown, both lobes conspicuously separated and rounded ( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 A–D). Ejaculatory vesicles slightly smaller than titillator’s process ( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 C–D).
Etymology. The name of the species is dedicated to Dr. Steven Trewick, Massey University, New Zealand, as a recognition for his contributions on wetas and cave crickets and as an acknowledgement by his careful help in previous investigations.
Type material. Holotype ♂: Colombia, Guaviare, San José del Guaviare, La Lindosa ( CAUD).
Description.
Male. Head. General coloration deep black, shiny ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 A–C). Fastigium of vertex not projected, as wide as scapus. Fastigium of frons rounded, touching fastigium of vertex ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 A–C). Clypeus wider than high, subtriangular, lateral margin gradually narrowing towards apical margin, slightly curved; apical margin arched ( Fig. 5C View FIGURE 5 ). Antenna with first basal third dark brown, remaining light brown; scapus two times wider than pedicel ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 A–C). Compound eye oval, black with brown edge ( Fig. 5A and 5C View FIGURE 5 ). Mandibular palp long, exceeding length of anterior tibia, last palpomere rounded, gradually widening from middle to the apex ( Fig. 5C View FIGURE 5 ). Maxillary palp at least three times shorter than mandibular palp, last segment conspicuously widened ( Fig. 5C View FIGURE 5 ).
Thorax. Pronotum with basal and lateral margins rounded, posterior margin straight, lateral lobe wider than high ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 A–B). Mesonotum and metanotum like pronotum, the first wider than latter ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 A–B). Prosternum collar-like, with two lobules armed with a tubercle near the lower margin for each lobe. Mesosternum rectangular, narrow and with a spine with the apex rounded on the middle of the anterior margin of each lobe. Metanotum triangular with a spine (more prominent than those of the other sternal segments) located in the middle of the lateral margin of each lobe.
Legs. Fore and mid femura dorsally rounded, with anterior, posterolateral and ventral margins flattened ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 A–B). Hind femur posteriorly with 19 chevron ridges ( Fig. 5A View FIGURE 5 ).
Abdomen. Cercus robust, cylindrical, light brown at anterior half, conical at posterior half; anterior and posterior halves with same length; posterior half black at basal and medial thirds, remaining light brown, with rounded apex ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 D–F). Paraprocts dorsoventrally flattened, covered by long setae, conspicuously curved towards pleural margin ( Fig. 5D View FIGURE 5 ). Subgenital plate almost twice longer than wide, rugose, posterior margin U-shaped emarginated, with long setae ventrally ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 D–F). Stylus long, wide, with rounded apex, conspicuously inward curved ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 D–F).
Genitalia. Dorsally with anterior margin conspicuously projected; titillator’s process with posterior margin light brown, both lobes conspicuously separated and rounded ( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 A–D). Ejaculatory vesicles slightly smaller than titillator’s sclerite ( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 C–D).
Coloration. Described based on dry specimen ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 A–B). Body dark brown, with light yellow spots. Legs light brown.
