( Figs 7 View FIGURES 7 – 12 , 16 View FIGURES 13 – 20 , 35)

Holotype, male, labeled: “ Ecuador: Sucumbios 9km.E.Lumbaqui [0.033559, -77.243048] 650m. 7/ 8-VIII- 98 W. Opitz // [large red label] HOLOTYPE ♂ Thisiomorphus curticornis Pollock ”, in FSCA.

Derivation of specific epithet. From a combination of the Latin “ curtus ” (short) and “ cornu ” (horn), in reference to the distinctly short antennae of the holotype.

Diagnosis. The single specimen of this new species possesses very short antennae, not extending past half length of pronotum; this is unique in the genus.

Description. Measurements (mm, N=1): HL = 0.88; PL = 0.88; EL = 3.16; GHW = 1.16; GPW = 1.24; GEW = 1.92; TL = 4.92. Ratios: EL/GEW = 1.65; GPW/PL = 1.41; TL/GEW = 2.56; GPW/GHW = 1.07. With characters of Thisiomorphus , and the following:

Body narrowly oval (TL/GEW 2.56), lateral elytral margins slightly arcuate.

Color. Antennae rufotestaceous; maxillary palpi uniformly rufous; head, pronotum and scutellum concolorous, dark brown; elytra dark brown, slightly lighter in color than forebody; femora and tibiae brown, femora slightly lighter distally; tarsi dark rufous; venter uniformly brown.

Antennae very short; antennomeres 3–7 subfiliform; antennomeres 8–10 short, nearly moniliform, only slightly widened distally.

Pronotum moderately wider than long (GPW/PL 1.41), subequal in width to head (GPW/GHW 1.07); lateral margins subparallel basally, arcuate in anterior half, maximum width near midlength; dorsal surface evenly convex, without depressions.

Male genitalia. Parameres distinctly shorter than lateral margin of basale, inner margins very slightly sinuate basally; basale with anterior margin slightly curved, lateral margins straight for their entire lengths.

Distribution. The only known specimen is from northeastern ECUADOR (Sucumbíos).
