Telemiades moa Siewert, Mielke & Casagrande , sp. nov.
( Figs 118, 119 View FIGURES 112–119 , 172 View FIGURES 170–172 , 215 View FIGURE 215 )
Diagnosis. Telemiades moa Siewert, Mielke & Casagrande , sp. nov. is distinguished from the other species of the “ megallus group” by VHW without a white patch. Besides, the purple reflection on DW is stronger than in the other species of “ megallus group”.
Description. Head: frons and vertex dark brown, with a few yellow scales. Eyes surrounded by yellow scales. Labial palpi dark brown and greyish, third segment dark brown. Antennae dark brown, base of each segment ventrally cream from half to apiculus; nudum of 26 segments.
Thorax: dorsally dark brown; ventrally dark brown and yellow.
FW: length of males 17 mm (n=1). DFW ( Fig. 118 View FIGURES 112–119 ): ground color dark brown with purple reflections; four dark brown spots: two cellular (upper and lower) and two discal in CuA 1 –CuA 2, and CuA 2 –2A; three apical hyaline spots in R 3 –R 4, R 4 –R 5 e R 5 –M 1; five dark brown submarginal spots in M 1 –M 2, M 2 –M 3, M 3 –CuA 1, CuA 1 –CuA 2, and CuA 2 –2A.
DHW ( Fig. 118 View FIGURES 112–119 ): ground color dark brown with purple reflections; two dark brown rounded spots in inferior cellular and CuA2–2A; six submarginal dark spots as an irregular band in Rs–M 1, M 1 –M 2, M 2 –M 3, M 3 –CuA 1, CuA 1 –CuA 2, and CuA 2 –2A.
VFW ( Fig. 119 View FIGURES 112–119 ): as DFW; costal margin metallic blue until R 3; spots more evident.
VHW ( Fig. 119 View FIGURES 112–119 ): as DHW; spots more evident; dark brown spot on anal region.
Abdome: dorsally dark brown; ventrally dark brown and yellow.
Male genitalia ( Fig. 172 View FIGURES 170–172 ): tegumen rounded; posterior margin with two pairs of lateral apophysis extending until the half size of uncus. Anterior projection of saccus triangular, anterior margin rounded. Uncus short, almost half size of tegumen, distal margin with two lateral rounded apophysis and central region curved ventrally. Valva rectangular, twice longer than wide; costa rectangular; distal projection rounded, with serrated margin and a crest–like projection in the disto–dorsal region; sacculus rectangular, about 1/2 the length of valva. Fultura inferior distally bifid, with distal margin rounded. Aedeagus cylindrical; insertion of manica in proximal third of aedeagus; opening for ejaculatory bulb rounded; distal margin truncated; opening for vesica about 1/3 of size of aedeagus; cornuti as two lines of thin and conic spines, the proximal ones shorter.
Female unknown.
Distribution. Telemiades moa sp. nov. is currently known only for its type locality: Parque Nacional da Serra do Divisor, Mâncio Lima, Acre, Brazil.
Etymology. The specific epithet is named after the River Moa, located at Acre state, Brazil.
Taxonomic discussion. Telemiades moa sp. nov. is easily distinguished from the other species of the “ megallus group” by VHW without the white patch and by the tegumen with one pair of lateral apophysis, especially the shorter aedeagus and the totally sclerotized fultura inferior. However, T. moa sp. nov. resembles the other species of the “ megallus group” by the purple reflection of the ground color of the wings and by the morphological pattern of the uncus and the valva.
