Description: Massive sponge, soft, beige in colour, cavernous, with abundant mucus. Spicules are large styles of 600–710 µm by 25–30 µm, anisotornotes of 350–430 µm by 10 µm, onychaetes I of 290–730 µm and onychaetes I of ~90 µm ( Figure 8 b–e View FIGURE 8 ).
Remarks: This species has been previously reported from Antarctic and subantarctic waters by Burton (1932, 1934, 1938), Hentschel (1914), and in Patagonia ( Burton 1940; Bertolino et al. 2007). This is the first record for the SOI.
