Tachina glossatorum Rondani, 1859

ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1859b: 195 (key), 202 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Apennino parmensi [ Parmese Apennines ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 3 ♂♂ (only two of them are syntypes but they are not labeled as such) (one missing left fore-leg; one missing right mid-leg; one partially eaten by dermestids and very moldy) ( MZUF: Box 13) with the following labels: Tachina Mgn / glossatorum Rnd. / 687.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Exorista (Exoristella) glossatorum ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 123, Pape et al. 1995: 16, Cerretti 2010: 101, O’Hara et al. 2020: 395).

REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 202) described Tachina glossatorum from two males: “ Mares duo tantum legi [I collected two males]”. The type series in the MZUF consists of three males without any label indicating their type status. We are unable to single out the two males upon which Rondani based his description. We leave the recognition of the two male syntypes to a future specialist .
