Palmer 449 (GH 00048797!, isolectotypes BM!, E 00346266!, F 303341!, G 00386181!, GH 00267553! [photo in MO!], NY! 2 sheets, UC 1602331 !). Remaining syntypes:— UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. California: San Bernardino, 1876, C. C. Parry & J. G. Lemmon 376 (MO 1312757!, MO 1907904!, NY! 3 sheets).

In the protologue of Stillingia linearifolia, Watson (1879) referred to two collections from Southern California, the first “ near Boundary Monument San Diego, Dr. E. Palmer n. 449, 1875 ” and the second in “ San Bernardino, Parry & Lemmon n. 376, 1876 ”. One of the two Palmer 449 specimens deposited in GH (00048797), where Watson worked, was chosen as the lectotype. This collection was also indicated by Rogers (1951), but the author did not mention the herbarium of deposition.
