17. Stillingia sylvatica var. angustifolia Müller Argoviensis (1866: 1158) View in CoL .— Stillingia angustifolia (Müll. Arg.) Engelm. ex Watson (1883: 154) . Lectotype (here designated):— UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Florida: Prope St.Marks in paludosis, May–July 1843, F. I. X. Rugel s.n. (G-DC 00319778!, isolectotypes K! 2 sheets, G! 2 sheets, G-DC 0319741!, G 00386175!, G 00414299!, MO!, NY!). Remaining syntype:— UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Florida: locality unknown, without date, S. L. Mitchill s.n. (G-DC! [photo in MO!]). [= Stillingia sylvatica Linnaeus (1767: 126) ].

Stillingia sylvatica var. angustifolia was based on two syntypes. Specimens of both collections are housed in G, where most of the types studied by Müller Argoviensis can be found. Therefore, Rugel s.n. is chosen as the lectotype for its compliance with the description of the protologue, and also for being duplicated in other herbaria (K, MO, and NY).
