Material. 91: 4♂, 2♀, Bois de Verrières , reared from Quercus, RB ( RB, RJ) ; 92: 3♀, Meudon , 3.iv., Quercus, Joannis ( MNHN) ; 1♂, Vaucresson , 22.iv.1945, Le Marchand [misid. as atricapitella ] ( MNHN) .

Remarks. Almost all previous records of adults under this name refer to S. roborella ; southern records refer to S. eberhardi , female S. suberivora , and possibly S. ilicifoliella . Records of mines may also refer to S. samiatella . True S. ruficapitella is known only from the northern parts of France (van Nieukerken & Johansson 2003).
