Stethantyx voluptaria Khalaim & Sääksjärvi , sp. nov.
( Figs 51 View FIGURES 48 – 51 , 61 View FIGURES 60 – 61 )
Comparison. Stethantyx voluptaria sp. nov. differs from other Amazonian species of Stethantyx by the combination of black head, entirely reddish orange mesosoma and long ovipositor.
Description. Female. Body length 4.7 mm. Fore wing length 3.0 mm.
Head strongly and roundly narrowed behind eyes in dorsal view; temple almost half as long as eye width. Mandible with upper tooth much longer than lower tooth. Clypeus weakly convex in lateral view, smooth, with fine and sparse punctures in upper 0.4. Malar space 0.4× as long as basal width of mandible. Flagellum of antenna very weakly narrowed towards apex, with 24 flagellomeres; subbasal flagellomeres about 1.5×, subapical flagellomeres 1.2–1.3× as long as broad. Face with longitudinal prominence centrally. Face and frons finely and densely punctate on very finely granulate, dull background. Vertex and temple with very fine moderately dense punctures on very finely granulate, dull background. Hypostomal carina absent.
Notaulus as a distinct wrinkle. Mesoscutum and scutellum very finely granulate and finely punctate. Scutellum with lateral longitudinal carinae reaching its posterior end and joining posteriorly. Foveate groove of mesopleuron situated in anterior 0.6 of mesopleuron, strongly oblique, wide and very deep, with coarse transverse carinae, not reaching anterior margin of mesopleuron. Mesopleuron with very fine punctures (peripherally indistinct), very finely granulate, almost smooth above foveate groove. Propodeum finely granulate, dorsolateral area with indistinct punctures; all carinae strong, without adjacent wrinkles. Basal area of propodeum about 1.5× as long as broad, almost rectangular (very weakly widened anteriorly), 0.55× as long as apical area. Propodeal spiracle small, separated from pleural carina by about 1.5× diameter of spiracle. Apical area flat, anteriorly truncate.
Fore wing with first and second sections of radius angled 105–110°. Intercubitus longer than abscissa of cubitus between intercubitus and second recurrent vein, both these veins not thickened. Metacarpus almost reaching apex of fore wing. Hind wing with nervellus vertical.
Legs slender. Hind femur 4.2× as long as broad, and 0.8× as long as tibia. Hind spurs almost straight.
First tergite slender, 4.0× as long as posteriorly broad, smooth with petiole striate laterally before glymma. Glymma situated near middle of tergite (covered by glue). Second tergite 1.9× as long as anteriorly broad. Thyridial depression more than 3.0× as long as broad. Ovipositor weakly and evenly upcurved, with shallow dorsal subapical depression; sheath about 2.5 as long as first tergite and hind tibia.
Head black; clypeus brownish yellow ventrally to reddish brown dorsally; palpi and mandible (teeth reddish black) yellow. Antenna with scape and pedicel yellow-brown, flagellum fuscous. Mesosoma reddish brown, propleuron and anterior part of pronotum yellowish brown. Tegula yellow. Pterostigma brown. Legs brownish yellow, hind femur brown (except base and apex) and tibia infuscate. First tergite of metasoma brown. Metasoma behind first tergite brownish yellow ventrally to brown and dark brown dorsally, second and following tergites with hind margin narrowly banded with yellow dorsally.
Male. Unknown.
Etymology. Named from the Latin voluptarius (pleasant).
