Stenomacrus payet Rousse et Villemant , sp. nov.
( Fig. 18 View FIGURE 18 c–d)
Diagnosis. Species characterized by the coarse sculpture of metasomal tergites I-II, longitudinally striate, with antero-oblique and transverse postmedian impressions. The antennae are medially whitish.
Description. FEMALE (14 specimens). Fore wing length 1.6–2.1 mm.
Head. Temples null, head extremely short behind eyes, in dorsal view about 1.5x longer at inner orbit level than centrally; occiput strongly concave, occipital carina absent; vertex and frons smooth; face with sparse minute punctuation; sub-ocular sulcus deep; mandible bidentate, lower tooth hardly visible on inner face of mandible; flagellum with 20–22 segments, FLi1 = 6, FLi2 = 5.5, FLi3 = 5.
Mesosoma. Thorax polished; notaulus absent; scutellum sub-triangular in dorsal view, carinated to apex; upper part of epicnemial carina hardly discernable on mesopleuron between lower corner of pronotum and middle of its posterior margin; propodeum with a strong posterior transverse carina and latero-median longitudinal carinae present only apically. Hind tibia with an apical fringe of strong and dense vertical hairs on inner side. Fore wing with areolet open and apico-dorsal venation almost unpigmented; hind wing with 1/Cu&cu-a reclivous.
Metasoma. Tergite I coarsely wrinkled longitudinally but with distinct latero-median carinae converging to the middle of the tergite and then parallel; tergite II longitudinally striate, striation shallower posteriorly; tergite II with a triangular median area defined by the antero-oblique and transverse postmedian impressions; tergite III and following polished; ovipositor sheath typical of the genus with base hairless and apex setose, OTi = 0.7.
Color. Head testaceous, mouthparts ivory white, antenna brown with scape and pedicel yellow ventrally and flagellomeres 6–11 whitish with a very thin brown apical ring, the previous flagellomeres sometimes whitish ventrally; pronotum and pro-and mesosternum yellow, the rest of meso- and metasoma brownish to testaceous; mesopleuron lighter ventrally. Legs yellow, coxae 1–2 and all trochanter whitish; hind tibia and tarsus infuscate; wings hyaline.
MALE. Unknown.
Comments. No other Stenomacrus species have been reported in the Ethiopian region.
Distribution records. Reunion.
