Stasiasticus montis Hartert

Stasiasticus montis Hartert, 1896d: 540 (Mount Arjuno, east Java).

Now Bradypterus montis (Hartert, 1896) View in CoL . See Hartert, 1920: 469, and Dickinson et al., 2000: 39–40.

LECTOTYPE: AMNH 592175 About AMNH , adult male, collected on Gunung Arjuna (5 Mount Arjuno), 9000–10,000 ft, 07.45S, 112.34E ( USBGN, 1982a), eastern Java, Indonesia, in January 1896, by William Doherty. From the Rothschild Collection. GoogleMaps

COMMENTS: Hartert did not designate a type in the original description, only noting that he had two male specimens with the same data. In his type list, Hartert (1920: 469) did not distinguish between the two specimens. AMNH 592175 bears the Rothschild type label, and it was so cataloged at AMNH. To validate Hartert’s intent and to avoid confusion in interpreting the older literature, I hereby designate AMNH 592175 the lectotype of Stasiasticus montis . AMNH 592176 with the same label data becomes the paralectotype.

The genus Stasiasticus was described in the same paper ( Hartert, 1896d: 539) and the label of the lectotype is noted ‘‘Type of gen. & spec.’’.
