The species (which was misspelled in the main text as corlosia View in CoL , but corrected in the Errata) was described by Duchassaing & Michelotti from St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, approximate coordinates 18.37°N 64.9°W. It is currently considered accepted ( De Voogd et al. 2023) as a default assignment but it is incertae sedis, as it is not illustrated and no material has survived ( Van Soest et al. 1983: 203, table I). I propose to reassign it provisionally to Spongia (Spongia) tubulifera Lamarck, 1814 View in CoL as the most likely identity based on Hyatt’s and Von Lendenfeld’s treatment of Spongia corlosia View in CoL (sic).
