Type host: Gallus gallus domesticus (Linnaeus) ( Galliformes : Phasianidae ) from Rwanda.

Diagnosis. Palp tarsus with 3 setae (2 ventral Bf- or Bj-type, 1 dorsal Ba-type), solenidion present; palp tibia with 1 seta (Bd-type). Hypostomal setae Bd-type. Setae ve situated anterior to level of sensillae si. Sensillae SAb-type, other dorsal and ventral (including coxal setae) setae BDa-type. Genital series with 3 pairs of setae. Pseudanal series with 1 pair of setae. Setae 1a, 3a present, 4a absent. Number of leg setae: coxae 1–0–1–0, femora 5–4–3–2.

Hosts and distribution. Galliformes (Phasianidae) : Gallus gallus dOmesticus (Linnaeus) from Rwanda [Southern Prov., Butare] ( Cooreman 1954; Fain 1956a, 1963d) and Angola [Lunda Norte Prov., Dundo] (present study).

Numididae : Numida meleagris intermedius Neumann from Rwanda [Southern Prov., Akanyaru] ( Fain 1956a).

Non-African hosts and distribution. Phasianidae : Gallus gallus dOmesticus (Linnaeus) from Papua New Guinea (Talbot 1969), Brazil ( Faccini et al. 1981), and India (Panda et al. 1987).

New material examined. Two females Gallus gallus dOmesticus (Linnaeus) ( Galliformes : Phasianidae ), ANGOLA: Lunda Norte Prov., Dundo, July 1973, coll. S.M. Jadin; specimens deposited in RBINS.
