Sinocyrtaspis hengshanensis View in CoL sp. nov.

( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 , Map 1)

Description. Male. Body small. Fastigium verticis conical, blunt apically and grooved dorsally. Eyes faintly globular, obviously protruding forward. Apical segment of maxillary palpus slightly longer than subapical one, apex swelled, truncate.

Pronotum long, obviously prolonged posteriorly, reaching posterior margin of 7th abdominal tergite ( Fig. 5A View FIGURE 5 ), anterior margin somewhat straight while posterior margin obtusely rounded and metazona rather strikingly raised; metazona of paranota conspicuously extending ventrally, posterior margin without humeral sinus ( Fig. 5B View FIGURE 5 ).

Tegmina completely covered by pronotum, overlapping; hind wings absent.

All femora unarmed ventrally, genicular lobes with apices obtuse. Fore coxae with 1 short spine; tibiae with 5 spines respectively on both sides of ventral surface, tibial tympana open on both sides, ovoid. Middle tibiae with 5 inner and 6–7 outer spines on ventral surface. Hind tibiae with 22–26 spines respectively on both sides of dorsal surface, bearing 2 pairs of ventral apical spurs and 1 pair of dorsal apical spurs.

9th abdominal tergite feebly long. 10th abdominal tergite expanded posteriorly, with 1 long posterior process which bents ventrally ( Fig. 5G View FIGURE 5 ), lateral margins of posterior process constricted at base, 3/4 apical area spilt, blunt apically; lateral margins of basal half extended outer-ventrally with terminals obtusely rounded. Cercus long, dorsal margin near basal half with fin-shaped expansion, terminal blunt, inner margin of 3/4 apical area with a keel ( Fig. 5I View FIGURE 5 ); apical area of cercus expanding ventrally and dorsally, twisted, with tip lamellate ( Fig. 5G, K View FIGURE 5 ). Genitalia sclerotized, surpassing posterior margin of subgenital plate, terminal looks like cetacean tail ( Fig. 5M View FIGURE 5 ), dorsal margin concave in the middle, lateral angles obtusely rounded. Subgenital plate somewhat rectangular, basal area with a triangular concavity, with median longitudinal carina, posterior margin with acute angled notch, lateral lobes blunt apically; styli stout and short, inserted on apical areas of lateral lobes of subgenital plate ( Fig. 5K View FIGURE 5 ).

Female. Anterior margin of pronotum a bit straight, posterior margin arc-shaped and metazona slightly flat; metazona of paranota somewhat expanded ( Fig. 5E View FIGURE 5 ). 9th abdominal tergite arc-shaped concave on posterior margin, lateral margins prolonged ventrally and caudad ( Fig. 5F View FIGURE 5 ). Apical area of 10th abdominal tergite concave ventrally in the middle, and posterior margin with 1 pair of short posterior processes, pointing dorsally and caudad ( Fig. 5H View FIGURE 5 ). Cercus conical, slightly blunt apically. Ovipositor stout at base, gradually narrowing towards tip at apical half and bents dorsad, with tip subacute; dorsal and ventral margins smooth, dorsal valvulae nearly equal to ventral ones ( Fig. 5F View FIGURE 5 ). Subgenital plate oval, basal area and apical area narrow, lateral margins bent dorsad, posterior margin slightly concave ( Fig. 5L View FIGURE 5 ).

Coloration. Body yellowish green, green when alive. Eyes brown. Disc of pronotum with 1 pair of nearly parallel longitudinal blackish brown stripes, of which posterior areas disappear; outer margins of stripes with 1 longitudinal yellow stripe respectively. Apices of all third tarsi and claws brown, apices of dorsal spines on hind tibiae brown.

Measurements (mm). Body: ♂ 10.5, ♀ 11.4–12.0; pronotum: ♂ 5.9, ♀ 5.2–5.4; hind femora: ♂ 9.6, ♀ 10.1–10.5; ovipositor: 7.0–7.4.

Material examined. Holotype: ♂, Hengshan, Hengyang , Hunan, 23 August, 2018, coll. Tao Wang. Paratypes: 2♀, Hengshan, Hengyang , Hunan, 23 August, 2018, coll. Tao Wang. Other specimens: 2♂, Cangjingdian, Hengshan , Hunan, 31 July, 2015, coll. Jianhua Huang.

Distribution. China (Hunan).

Discussion. This new species resembles Sinocyrtaspis spina Shi & Du, 2006 , but differs in the following: basal area of male cercus without spiniform process, dorsal margin near basal half fin-shaped expanded; tip of genitalia looks like cetacean tail, which dorsal margin concave in the middle, lateral angles obtusely rounded. Posterior margin of female 10th abdominal tergite with 1 pair of short posterior processes, pointing dorsally and backward.

Etymology. The name of new species is derived from the type locality, Hengshan.
