37. Simulium (Nevermannia) pairoti View in CoL Ya’cob, Takaoka & Sofian-Azirun, 2017
Simulium (Nevermannia) feuerborni (not sensu Edwards); Takaoka & Davies, 1995: 86.
Simulium (Nevermannia) pairoti Ya’cob, Takaoka & Sofian-Azirun, in Ya’cob et al., 2017: 133–141 (Female, male, pupa and larva).
This species was described from males, pupae and larvae collected from Cameron Highlands (Ya’cob et al., 2017). It was formerely regarded as S. (N.) feuerborni originally described from Java, Indonesia (Edwards, 1934). It is distinguished from S. (N.) feuerborni by the male paramere with 5 hooks (3 or 4 hooks in the latter species).
The immature stages of this species appear to breed in small to medium-sized streams at high elevations (1,000–1,813 m) in Cameron Highlands (Ya’cob et al., 2016b). No additional material was found in other areas, though it was once recorded from Fraser’s Hill (Takaoka and Davies, 1995).
