Simulium (Gomphostilbia) montiblense Takaoka, 1983 View in CoL

Simulium (Gomphostilbia) montiblense Takaoka, 1983: 71 View in CoL –73 (Female, male, pupa and larva).

Distribution. Philippines (Palawan) and Vietnam.

Remarks. This species was described from Palawan, the Philippines by Takaoka (1983), and later recorded from Vietnam by Crosskey and Howard (1997). No detailed information of this record was available; hence, the material and locality in Vietnam are unknown. If its identification was based only on the pupal stage, there is a possibility that the species recorded as S. (G.) montiblense is one of three species, i.e., S. (G.) eshimai sp. nov., S. (G.) longlanhense or S. (G.) parahiyangum because the pupal gills of S. (G.) montiblense and the three other species are all short, and their arrangements are almost indistinguishable from one another ( Takaoka 1983; Takaoka and Sigit 1992; Takaoka et al. 2015a).
