Holotype [by monotypy]: ZMB 31866 (= 11a.08.1122), male, adult, skin; Yambuya at the Aruwimi River , Democratic Republic of the Congo; collected by Herzog Adolf Friedrich zu Mecklenburg, 1807 or 1808.
Comment:The description is based on a single male specimen, “Fell mit zwei Stücken knöchernen Augenrandes” [a fur with two pieces of bony eye rim].
