Type: — TURKEY. Antalya: Road from Antalya to Altınyaka , 1160 m a.s.l., 36. 74 N, 30. 45 E GoogleMaps ; 13 May 2009, Aydin 28 (holotype: GB- 0128343!, isotypes: DUF!, ANK!)
Diagnosis: —Similar to S. cryptoneura , but stem usually erect; petal limb with one prominent central vein, rhomboid; seed hilum circular with no differentiation at margin.
Description: —Annual, with a single stem or branched at base, 10–40 cm tall, erect or ascending, densely pubescent with multicellular glandular hairs. Basal leaves spatulate, forming a lax rosette, petiolate, acute at apex, upper leaves spatulate to oblong-oblanceolate, all glandular puberulent. Inflorescence a lax compound dichasium with several flowers, alar flower erect (in flower) or pendant (in fruit), distinctly pedicellate. Calyx greenish or purplish, tubular at anthesis, narrowly clavate in fruit, (8–)11–15 × 1.5–4 (up to 5.5 in fruit) mm, teeth triangular with scarious margins, glandular pubescent. Antophore (2–) 5–8 mm, pubescent. Petals glabrous, claw exceeding calyx, limb pink, entire with a conspicuous central vein, apex rhomboid, 6–8 mm. Filament glabrous, 10–13 mm, anthers pale lilac, 1.1–1.5 mm, protruding from corolla. Capsule 6–8 mm, glabrous, walls thin, transparent, apex not contracted. Seeds globular to subglobose with rounded hilum, longest diameter 0.9–1.1mm, brownish to black.
Etymology:—Named in honour of botany professor Alaattin Selçuk Ertekin (University of Dicle, Diyarbakır Turkey).
Habitat and ecology:—Gravelly slopes, virgin roadsides and open ground in conifer forests. Flowering time is April to June.
Distribution:—Endemic to the Eastern Side of Bey Dağları, Western Antalya, and only known from this area.
Taxonomic relationships:—Closely related to S. cryptoneura , from which it differs in usually being more upright, the petal shape and the hilum region of the seeds.
IUCN Red list category: —It can be included in the Data Deficient (DD) as well as Not Evaluated (NE) categories of IUCN Red List categories ( IUCN 2012) as there is inadequate information to make a direct or indirect assessment of its risk of extinction based on its distribution and/or population status.
