Type material. Syntypes ( BMNH) : 1 male, “ Mt. Matang , W. Sarawak. G. E. Bryant. 12. 2. 14 1000f”, “HG 2”, “ ♂ ”, “Type H. T.”, “ Scirtes sulcigerus Ch ”, “1916.96” ; 1 female, “ Mt. Matang , W. Sarawak. G. E. Bryant. 2. 1914”, “ ♀ ”, “Type H. T.”, “ Scirtes sulcigerus Ch ”, “1916. 96” ; 1 male, “ Mt. Matang , W. Sarawak. G. E. Bryant. 2. 1914”, “ ♂ ”, “ Scirtes sulcigerus Ch ”, “1916.96” ; 1 male, “Mt. Matang, W. Sarawak. G. E. Bryant. 1. 1914”, “ ♂ ”, “ Scirtes sulcigerus Ch ”, “1916.96”. Judging from the original description, it was cleared that the syntypes consisted of one female and three male specimens collected from the same locality, therefore we considered that it is unnecessary to designate the lectotype in this case .
Redescription. Male. Body oblong-oval, strongly convex above, shining, closely covered with yellowishwhite setae throughout. Coloration of body brown; maxillary palpi and antennomeres 4–11 black; elytra and hind legs somewhat infuscate.
Head moderate in size, slightly convex above in dorsal surface, closely covered with fine punctures; clypeus long, straight in front margin. Eyes moderate in size, prominent; the distance between the eyes ca. 2.0 times as long as maximum diameter of an eye. Antennae slender, reaching ca. proximal 1/3 of elytra. Pronotum slightly convex above in mesal part of the disk, punctured as on head; front and lateral margins gently arcuate; antero-lateral angles obtuse, ca. 120°; postero-lateral angles almost right-angled; posterior margin gently bisinuate; PW/PL 2.36–2.50 (2.42). Scutellum moderate in size, equilateral-triangular, punctured as on head. Elytra oblong, widest at the proximal 1/3, punctured as on head; shoulder parts indistinct; EL/EW 1.36– 1.40 (1.38); EL/PL 4.29–4.58 (4.48); EW/PW 1.31–1.37 (1.34); TL/EW 1.66–1.71 (1.69). Hind coxal plates rectangular. Legs relatively long; hind legs stout; hind tibial spurs long, almost straight; dorsal spurs ca. 2.5 times as long as ventral ones, ca. 0.8 times as long as tarsomere 1. Sternites III–IV sparsely covered with short setae; sternites V–VII closely covered with long setae. Caudal margin of sternite VII shallowly concave. Tegmen well sclerotized; basal part oblong; parameres long, bidentate, curved laterally. Penis short, well sclerotized in basal portion; apical portion membranous, sparsely punctate, obtuse at apex.
Female. The distance between the eyes ca. 2.3 times as long as the diameter of an eye. Elytra with deep and oblique foveae on caudal 1/8. PW/PL 2.39. EL/EW 1.42; EL/PL 4.63; EW/PW 1.36; TL/EW 1.73.
Measurements. Male (n = 3): TL 3.23–4.02 (3.65) mm; PW 1.45–1.72 (1.61) mm; PL 0.58–0.72 (0.67) mm; EL 2.65–3.30 (2.98) mm; EW 1.95–2.35 (2.15) mm. Female (n = 1): TL 3.77 mm; PW 1.60 mm; PL 0.67 mm; EL 3.10 mm; EW 2.18 mm.
Distribution. Borneo Isl. ( Sarawak).
Notes. Externally resembling Scirtes balehensis sp. n., but penis as long as parameres (much longer in S. balehensis sp. n.). Genital features similar to Scirtes bidentatus sp. n. in having bidentate parameres, but differs from it in having the membranous apex of penis (well sclerotized in S. bidentatus sp. n.). This species is also similar to Scirtes maramagensis Klausnitzer in apical part of penis which is membranous and sparsely punctate, but differs from it by the bidentate parameres (tridentate in S. maramagensis Klausnitzer ).
