Schreiteriana pectinicornis ( Dyar, 1937) View in CoL ( Figs 3 ¯4, 7¯8)

Schreiteria pectinicornis Dyar, 1937: 1268 .

Type locality. Tucuman ( Argentina).

Type material (syntypes) in USNM.

Distribution. Argentina.

Material examined. 1 ♂, Argentina, Pilcomayo, 12.III.1997, leg. J. Rumi (GenPr MWM: 26709; MWM) ; 1 ♂, Argentina, Jardin América , V.2003, 1997, leg. J. Rumi (GenPr MWM: 26784; MWM) ; 1 ♂, Argentina, Missiones , Iguazu, 2.X.1995 (GenPr MWM: 28544; MWM).

Description of male genitalia. Uncus triangular, narrow, with beak-like tapered apex; gnathos arms thin, of medium length, not fused; valva leaf-like, with even costal edge, oblique upper edge, anal edge with notch in proximal third, outer edge less sclerotized than other areas of valve; juxta saddle-like with two long (in length equal to ¼ of valve) leaf-like lateral processes; saccus of medium size, semicircular; phallus short (in length equal to ½ of valve), thick; vesica with long ribbon-like sclerite in lateral surface and a scobinated area.

Taxonomical notes. The structure of the antennae (bipectinate in proximal part and simple in distal part) and male genitalia (the reduction of the gnathos and transtilla processes, the valva of simple form, without armament, peculiar structure of the phallus, the vesica with a long ribbon-like sclerite in its lateral surface) support the placement of this taxon in the Zeuzerinae . It is mostly similar to the Paleotropical Azygophleps Hampson, 1892 (type species ‾ Hepialis scalaris Fabricius, 1775 ).

The authors sincerely thanks Harald Sulak for the preparing of the photo of type specimens in the USNM. The authors are grateful to Anna Ustjuzhanina (Tomsk, Russia) and Prof. Boris Kondratieff (Fort Collins, USA) for language improvements.
