Antennae with scapes thick and large; pedicels larger than antennomeres III, III–V subequal in width, VI–VIII subequal in width, slightly narrower than VI, IX–XI ( Figure 5F View Figure 5 ) strongly clubbed; semi-membranous apophysis on antennomere IX as in Figure 7L View Figure 7 ; antennomere X ( Figure 6H View Figure 6 ) slightly wider than long, XI with two truncate basal protuberances, the more basal one covered with tufts of apical setae.

Pronotum slightly longer than wide, PL 0.47–0.48, PW 0.44–0.45. Protibiae ( Figure 8P View Figure 8 ) strongly expanded mesally at middle. Elytra combined wider than long, EL 0.56–0.57, EW 0.72–0.73. Abdomen wider than long, AL 0.37–0.48, AW 0.64–0.68; tergite IV about twice as long as next. Length of aedeagus ( Figure 8L View Figure 8 ) 0.18.

Habitat and distribution

Sifted from the mixed leaf litter of a broad-leaved forest. Southwest China (Yunnan).

Etymology

The specific name refers to the male expanded protibiae.

Remarks

This new species is placed near the group of species that have two basal protuberances of antennomere XI. Sathytes tibialis can be easily separated from all other Sathytes species by the male protibiae being expanded mesally at middle, coupled with its relatively elongate antennomere IX, short curved apophysis of antennomere IX located sub-basally and aedeagus being broad basally and dramatically narrowed from middle toward apex.
